Luca came to us under unfortunate and cruel circumstances. Right after Thanksgiving one of our caretakers came to take care of the cats in our shelter only to find what she thought was one cat in  a carrier, outside of our shelter. The carrier was left outside the door on a FREEZING day with absolutely no protection from the cold and winter elements. The carrier was brought in, and placed in a quarantine before we could figure out what we will do next... only to realize there was a SECOND cat squeezed in the back of the carrier. The two cats had no room to move in any directions and and had about 2 inches of dry food and feces under them. We quickly took them out and separated them into two separate crates, not knowing if they were friendly or not. It was hard to hell if they were friendly because of the amount of fleas and scabs and the discomfort they were in. Lucca especially was covered in so many fleas, we could not find a spot to put any flea ointment on her but we tried and also did a few baths to suplement the meds. I have never seen a cat chewed up by fleas like this before. We suspect she might have had some sort of string on her neck for a while that ws eating into her skin. It was a sad situation all around. The good news is we were able to give her proper medical attention, spayed her, vaccinated, microchipped and gave her nutritious food that made her recovery possible. Today she is a gorgeous cat, with the sweetest personality. We don't know her exact age but guessing anywhere between 3-5. Her coat and skin has recovered from the scabs and injuries and no one would ever know where she came from. She is a resilient sweet creature that deserves NOTHING but the best for the rest of her life. WE LOVE HER.
